Reasons as to why you should go on a cruise

This was my first time going on for a cruise and it started off from Venice. It is 6.00PM and buuuuup buuupp the cruise sounded its horn.. Time to go...

We had two tug boats escorting us out from the port one pushing from behind  the ship and one on the front.  As soon as we made it half way out of Venice it was amazing as we got the perfect time for sunset. While leaving the beautiful city of Venice we got to see the water canals of this city, Marco Polo Cathedral and the ship/boat activity in the port is amazing... Obviously while seeing such beautiful scenery I got inspired, so as soon as we were out of Venice, I ran downstairs to our room sat down in our gorgeous balcony, watching the sunset and  started writing this post.... Simply stunning, a great peaceful and serene moment.

Constant Ocean views
On a cruise you can constantly enjoy endless views, port views, land views and endless sea views.
If you are the tenant of a room with a balcony, I do suggest you spend a good quality amount of relaxed time in it. Also leaving the curtain slightly open before going to bed, as this is what you will see soon as you open your eyes first thing in the morning, a big red fire ball reflecting over the sea, simply gorgeous. Sunsets were also stunning. Usually you can enjoy this while eating dinner or having the evening tea. With these endless views  you can try and enjoy some  dolphin spotting.  After having breakfast in the buffet area on 9th level, I usually use to take down another cup of tea to enjoy in our balcony, while enjoying the sunrise and sometimes also witting my blog.

TIP: If possible when booking a room if you are not super tight with budget and can stretch a bit, do consider booking a balcony room. It is perfect for reading, relaxing and focusing on your creativity.

Food
Well everyone says that once you are on a cruise you can never get hungry....it's true... Food is a never ending loop on a cruise. You have breakfast, lunch, tea time, dinner and also an occasional midnight snack. We were on one of the Costa ships and this ship had 3 different restaurants; the buffet area, a fine-dinning restaurant and the a la cart menu with exceptional food.

For breakfast you can find anything from English breakfast, American breakfast which includes different pancakes and many other things like;toast, hams, cheeses, cereal, hot food, cakes... it was a never ending list and everything was always delicious.

Lunch was always served in the buffet area and we always had a great selection of different things, pasta, chicken, meat, vegetables and some nice desserts to.  Dinner was never disappointing, it was always of great quality and the waiters where exceptional. You are usually assigned to one waiter during the A la cart service and he is the one who serves you throughout the entire cruise. On one of our first dinners I asked for butter to spread on the bread and from then on-words I always found butter awaiting me on my table :)

Also the chef adds some traditional food of the country you are visiting, which was also very nice. Just rest assured that there is plenty of food and even if you are  intolerant to something they also do their best to serve you food.  If you are a picky eater do not worry with the vast selection they offer I am sure you will managed to fill your tummy with something to your taste.

Great entertainment
Today's cruise ships something for everyone. Be it night or day, the entertainment team is always on the go, making sure that you always have something to do and entertain you. During the day the entertainment team usually invent some games for kids and adults. If you are a ping-pong fan, take your bat as they might plan a ping-pong tournament. During the evening we always had a show; cabaret, magic shows, a crew hidden talent night and more. Also there is plenty of things to do for kids; games club, kids club, swimming and a lot of fun activities.

No need for lots of planning
When you decide on going for a cruise simply pick the destinations you want to visit, select your type of cabin and you are done. No need for extra planning of trips and how to spend the time. If you do not like planning a trip, a cruise is perfect for you. Although I do have to say that all excursions are a rip-off. We went to places and done the same things as the people who chose to do an excursion at less than half the price. So if you want to spend less money I do suggest doing some homework before hand and planning on where to visit. I myself am one of a planner so I didn't mind looking at different options and places of interests.

TIP: The most important thing is that if you go far away plan ahead to avoid any traffic or being late to embankment as the ship doesn't wait for anyone. Once its time to depart he will leave regardless if people or off board (excluding if you are with an excursions team)

It's like having a hotel travelling with you
On a cruise you simply unpack once and that is it you have a floating hotel which comes with you from country to country.  You do not need to worry about have to much luggage to carry around, or to worry about plan turbulence. Make sure you a different attire with you as they do have themed nights.  We had a gala night, white night and a red, white and green night

TIP: If possible ask before hand what themed nights they will have, so as to go prepared with the right type of clothes

Perfect place to unplug and disconnect
As soon as the ship is off and there is no close land to connect to, you will not have any cell service or data, therefore this is the best way to disconnect and relax. You can buy a number of minutes where you can have wifi, but usually it is expensive. At first this might be a bit annoying and feel bored but this was actually great, we got to laugh together, play cards, catch-up and read (there usually is a library which also has board games)

Suitable for everyone
A cruise is perfect for almost everyone, be it if you are an elderly, a special needs person, a young kid, anyone. The cruise has easy mobility around so anyone can move easily around the ship. It is safe for kids and full of games to keep them entertained. Adults also have separate shows and activities to keep them entertained.  Parents can enjoy a romantic dinner while there kids is safe in the kids club.

A teaser of the countries you visit

When the cruise docks, you get a limited time to stay ashore. You need to use this time carefully as this will give you the good idea of weather or not you want to return. For example I realized my expectations where very high for Santorini and always wanted to go there for a week. In reality I learnt that  you do not need more then two days to visit Santorini. Whereas when we visited Dubrovnik it left me wanting more and now I will definitely need to go explore more. This is the perfect way to see places far away from you. I would one day want Caribbean cruise and one which goes to Alaska that way then I can decide which countries or places to focus on.

To summaries all the above you should at least consider going for a cruise at least once, you will be treated like royalty, food is never ending and exceptional and you can visit a good amount of places in a short period of time.  I would love to go for my next cruise around Alaska, anyone been to one? Any tips?
