What makes Poland so great

Poland was our honeymoon destination  during the warm months of summer. Poland has both cold winter weather and in summer hot sweaty days.  While spending 15 days around Poland we pretty much came to a conclusion that it is nice and worth another visit.

Picturesque mountains
Mountains in Poland are breathtaking. The long never ending mountain ranges are spectacular. Anyone which is a fan of nature, you have to visit the Tataras, a true paradise. It is the perfect place for hiking in Summer, with mountains covered in green vegetation and lashing white in Winter perfect for skiing lovers.

The Food!
Food in Poland is great. They do have a different way of cooking however food was always delicious. They enjoy their soups and meat. They have some national Polish dishes like Pierogis (polish dumplings) and borscht ( sour soup). I was not a fan of the sour soup but the piergois where super yummy.  If you have a sweet tooth I do suggest you go for pączki (doughnut filled with jam or chocolate) they are simply delicious. In Poland you eat for reasonable prices. Obviously in cities like Krokow the food prices will slightly go up a bit but still reasonably priced. To top this the food portions are very generous too. Even if you go to a fine-dinning restaurant it will still be cheaper than any other eastern European country.

Enjoying my chicken broth in what seems to be as big as a fish bowl

Poland is affordable :)
Speaking about reasonably priced food, it is not only food which is well priced but also other things like hotels and public transport. You can also save up on flights by using one of the low-cost airlines like Ryanair and Wizzair. Taxis are also cheaper than the norm.  Our Poland holiday roughly costed us around 600euros for two persons and that is for 2 weeks including, flights, accommodation, food and taxis, which I think is a very fair price.

Activities for all year round
In Poland you can find a lot of different activities which you can participate in and you can find something to do through-out the year be it summer or winter. Since in summer they have warm sunny days you can enjoy your picnics, hikes, horse-riding and water-sports. Whereas in winter you can enjoy indoor activities and outdoor like skiing and snow-boarding on their beautiful mountains.

Summary:
  • Take some light long sleeved jumpers as early morning and evenings get a bit chilly
  • Enjoy the food and try some traditional food
  • Do visit Morskie Oko it is beautiful (read about it here)
  • Do book a traditional Polish hotel (one which is all made out of wood)
  • Convert some money to Polish Krona we had some places and taxis which didn't accept card
